Here are the real and pseudo given by the gov. for mock screening. There are 40 words, 20 of each. Use flashcards for children to read. A fun and engaging activity pack. These 10 lessons can be done individually or stretched into longer learning journeys. Planning - a brief description of 10 cross-curricular activities linked to: art, English, maths, history and geography. An engaging tale surrounding the themes of: bullying, self-esteem and friendship. This story is a great tool for PSHE lessons, assemblies or English lessons. Pupils will follow Quinn on his adventure of self-discovery. I have written the story to include a whole host of interesting language devices, including alliteration and repetition, which can be discussed and pupils can imitate in their own similar story.

Just a quickie to save some time...used for writing assessment to take to a moderation meeting. First sheet has note and name on, second sheet is just blank lines.

I already have two free mock phonics screening tests in my free resources. If you have already used those, here is an option for a brand new (2016) edition. The test is laid out as the STA lay theirs out. There are 40 words: 20 real and 20 pseudo. There is also a tick sheet to record pupils’ answers and a class record sheet. I would advise carrying out several mock screening checks so that the children are comfortable with the format. Also, this allows you to find individual or common areas for development and plan your phonics sessions accordingly. As a school, we have had extremely good phonics screening results, 80-90%. This resource could also be printed off as a booklet and given as homework to encourage families to support their children in working towards passing the phonics screening. Just to use for ideas. I have copied and pasted the last, general comment that I used on the end of year report to parents. Might just give NQTs a few ideas if you're stuck. They are generally very positive in line with the expectations of my current school.\n\nAlso some general strengths and targets (again which my current report form asks for). Sorry it&'s slightly patchy - it&';s done for my class and their levels.

An overview of the year can be easily chopped and changed as links become apparent. Useful to see thing on paper altogether.

These blank sheets can be used for students to draw a picture about a story they have read and then write a sentence about it. These pages can also be used for a child to create their own book.

I created a surgery role-play area within my classroom and llinked it with literacy. The children can dress as a doctor or nurse and then "fix' the sentences. We have a big box with all of the 'sick' sentences in it and children pick one

1.) Poster for audience/purpose; an old woman needs a friend...can you write a character desciption of the old man in The Tin Forest.2.) Sheet to write the character profile.3.) Some stolen words from the book for display.

Used on display, children write captions about any topic. We linked it to Rights Respecting, took photos of children standing to the side and then the speech bubble coming from their mouths.
